Like to Draft? Wednesday Night at Bell Book and Comic is the place to be!

In order to draft, you will need 4 packs of the current format as an entry fee. You can bring your own, or purchase them from the store.

3 of the packs will be used for the draft, and 1 pack from each player will create the prize pool. Dave is now adding an additional 2 packs to the prize pool. So, win your first match, and you’ll win 1 pack from the pool. Win your second match, and get 3 packs. Win the final, and you’ll get 5 packs!

Also, for every 3 drafts that you enter, your next draft will only require 3 packs!

These events are DCI sanctioned, so you will need a DCI card to participate. Don’t have one? We’ll get you one!

Bell Book and Comic is happy to host Dungeons and Dragons: Encounters!

An exciting pre-built 4th Edition campaign, Encounters features the newest mechanics, settings and creatures from Dungeons and Dragons. Each week, you and your companions square off again the forces of evil in a continuing narrative filled with adventure, excitement, danger and treachery.

Don’t have a character ready? No problem! Pre-generated characters are ready for any one to pick up and play. Can’t make it every week? Not a problem, either! Each encounter is a self contained adventure, so even if you have to miss one or more sessions, you can pick right back up and join the party without missing a beat.

Encounters starts at 7pm, and runs until 9pm, but can run later if the encounter gets extra interesting.

Join other local players in one of the most popular casual formats, EDH / Commander!
Started as a means to pass time between tourney rounds for judges and players, EDH / Commander has taken off and is now an officially supported format by Wizards of the Coast!

Basic Information

EDH / Commander League is a casual gaming league, with no rankings, no pressure, and all fun! Play whatever deck you want, play against who ever you want, play as long as you want (within reason)!

League play starts at 7pm, and ends around 10pm. Entry fee is $1.

Rules

EDH / Commander League at BBC uses the same rules as the official MTG Commander website, which can be found here. Additionally, we play with a house rule – every player may use a free Partial Paris mulligan at the beginning of the game.

If a card is found to be abused or not fun to play against on a regular basis, the BBC community may decide to forbid a card at BBC. Currently, no cards other than the official ban list are forbidden.

Prizes

Players participating in EDH / Commander League can earn points by making cool or complex plays, working the politics of the game to their advantage, crafting a surprising deck, and – of course – eliminating other players. Points can then be used to collect promos, store credit, or whatever else Dave can whip up!

Here, we’ll give you a quick overview of our FNM tournaments, including format information, rules and prizes.

Basic Information

Our FNM tournaments start at 7pm every Friday. On rare occasion, FNM may be cancelled if the store is closed for a major holiday, or a tournament organizer is unavailable. If you are unsure if FNM is being held, feel free to call the store at 937.643.9006, or check our Google Calendar.

We currently have two tournaments every Friday, one Standard tournament and one Modern tournament, both with a $5 entry fee. All tournaments require at least 8 players to run.

Rules

All FNM events are held at Regular rules enforcement level. This is the lowest enforcement level and encourages players to play the game to the best of their ability, without fear of major penalties for minor mistakes. If you have questions about rules enforcement, ask Dave.

Prizes

DAVE’S FIRST RULE OF PRIZES – IF WE GET IT FREE, YOU GET IT FREE

Whenever Bell Book and Comic receives prizes or promotional materials from Wizards of the Coast or from any of our distributors, they will be passed on to the players. Unless we get them in trade, WE WILL NOT SELL OUR PROMOS.

DAVE’S SECOND RULE OF PRIZES – SAME RESULT, SAME PRIZE

When deciding prizes in non-Top 8 events, players who win the same number of matches as another player will always have the opportunity to receive a similar prize. Example: all players in a 4-round FNM tourney who win at least 3 matches will at least receive the same number booster packs as prizes.

CURRENT PRIZE DISTRIBUTION

For Standard and Modern FNM events, the store will provide 2 booster packs of the most recent set* per player into the main prize pool. Additional packs that are used in the random door prize allotment will not come from this main prize pool.

For 3 round tournaments, players with 2-1 records will receive 3 packs, and players with 3-0 records will split the remaining packs in the pool.

For 4 round tournaments, players with 3-1 records will receive 5 packs, and players with 4-0 records will split the remaining packs in the pool.

For 5 round tournaments, players with 3-2 records will receive 3 packs,  4-1 records will receive 5 packs and players with 5-0 records will split the remaining packs in the pool.

FOR FNM EVENTS – players may exchange booster pack winnings for store credit, at a rate of $3 in credit per pack.

* Booster pack prizes are subject to availability. If the current set packs are unavailable, players may accept packs from any set in the current block, the most recent Core Set, or an IOU for the current set packs that can be redeemed as soon as those packs are available.

ADDITIONAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION

All players that did not receive a top pack prize (typically 1st and 2nd, occasionally 3rd and once-in-blue-moon, 4th) are eligible to receive randomly distributed door prizes. These are typically booster packs and extra promos from other events.

FNM Promos are always distributed to 1st and 2nd, and any remaining promos are randomly distributed to other players.
